I applaud Keith David for his role as Anderson. His voice always has so much power. This scene in particular hit home. I grew up under very strict rules and a lot was expected from me. I didn’t get a lot of praise. It was a powerful parallel with Shepard, who never got much thanks for doing what she did.
“You did good child.” To hear someone was proud of what you did, even if what you did wasn’t perfect, wasn’t the best. You. Did. Good.
Hats off to Papa Anderson. Always looking out for you, just like any good parent would.
